  • Description

Meet the Goodman GD9T961005CN, a compact 80,000 BTU two-stage gas furnace designed to fit mid-size to larger homes without sacrificing heating power. Housed in a slim 17.5" cabinet, this downflow model brings robust warmth where space is at a premium—think closets, alcoves, or attic installations—while delivering the efficiency you expect from a modern furnace.

    Why this furnace stands out

    • Remarkable efficiency with 96% AFUE means 96 cents of every dollar of gas is turned into usable heat, reducing monthly energy bills while keeping your home comfortable.
    • Two-stage operation with an 80,000 BTU input and a flexible valve that runs at 60% for milder days and ramps to 100% for cold snaps. The result is steadier temperatures, less temperature swing, and improved outdoor-szn efficiency compared to single-stage models.
    • Downflow/horizontal installation tailor-made for tight spaces—closets, alcoves, and attics—without compromising delivery or performance.
    • Quiet, precise airflow comes from a 9-speed ECM blower, delivering consistent warmth with minimal sound.
    • Durable heating cores feature a heavy-duty aluminized-steel tubular heat exchanger plus a stainless steel secondary exchanger for longer life and reliable heat transfer.
    • Smart diagnostics with a self-diagnosing control board makes servicing simpler and faster, reducing downtime during maintenance.
    • Flexible fuel and venting options—naturally gas-powered, LP convertible with an optional kit, and venting designed for PVC/Plastic systems.
    • Lower emissions and modern compatibility—low NOx emissions meet nationwide installation requirements, and the system is R-32 compatible for efficient refrigerant pairing with compatible cooling systems.
    • Certifications you can trust—AHRI certified and ETL listed, ensuring performance standards and safety benchmarks are met.
    • Solid warranty—a 10-year limited parts warranty plus a lifetime heat exchanger warranty when you register within 60 days of installation.

What this means for real homes

If you’re upgrading from an older furnace, the GD9T961005CN’s combination of high heat output and tight cabinet footprint means you don’t have to sacrifice living space for comfort. It’s ideal for mid-to-large homes where efficient zone heating is crucial, or where renovations constrain cabinet size. The two-stage operation minimizes temperature fluctuations on shoulder seasons, keeping bedrooms cozier and living spaces more uniformly heated.
