How Does a Heat Pump Work?

A heat pump is one of the most energy-efficient HVAC systems available today. Instead of generating heat like a traditional furnace, it transfers heat using electricity to provide both heating and cooling in one system. The process works in four simple steps: evaporation, compression, condensation, and expansion. During winter, the system pulls heat from outside and moves it indoors. In summer, the cycle reverses to remove heat from your home and keep it cool. Many homeowners choose heat pumps because they offer: High energy efficiency Lower utility costs Heating and cooling in one system Modern SEER2 performance ratings When choosing a heat pump, it’s important to consider the system size, efficiency rating, and installation setup to ensure the best performance for your home. With reliable year-round comfort and long-term energy savings, heat pumps remain one of the smartest HVAC upgrades available today.
