Description
When your system needs to step up to 2 tons of cooling capacity, the Goodman CAPTA2422A3 is ready for the job. Built specifically around R-32 refrigerant — with dedicated R-32 circuits, manifolds, and an integrated sensor — this isn't a coil that's simply "compatible" with the newer refrigerant. It's designed from the ground up to get the most out of it, whether you're running a straight cooling system or a heat pump setup.
Built for the Install and the Long Haul
- R-32 Optimized Circuits & Manifolds – Purpose-built refrigerant pathways maximize heat exchange efficiency and keep system pressures where they need to be, not just close enough.
- Dual Factory-Installed TXVs – One valve for cooling, one for heat pump operation. Both come pre-installed, so your system is ready to perform in either mode without additional field components.
- Integrated R-32 Sensor – Monitors coil conditions specific to R-32 operation, extending component life and giving the system a longer service window before issues arise.
- 21" Depth Profile – Keeps attic and tight-space installs manageable without compromising on capacity or airflow performance.
- Single Front Access Panel – Straightforward access for service calls and routine maintenance, keeping labor time low and turnaround fast.
- Foil-Faced Insulation – Controls cabinet condensation and improves thermal retention, so the system isn't working against itself.
- Galvanized Leather Grain-Embossed Cabinet – A rust-resistant exterior finish that holds up through years of exposure without looking like it has.
Drain Pan Built With the Details Right
The thermoplastic drain pan on the CAPTA2422A3 checks every box. It's UV-resistant to prevent degradation in sun-exposed installs, DecaBDE-free for safer material composition, and features a low water-retention design that moves condensate out quickly rather than letting it sit. Secondary drain connections come standard, giving installers flexibility in tight or unconventional drain routing situations.

The Bottom LineThe CAPTA2422A3 brings 2-ton capacity to the table with the kind of R-32 optimization that goes beyond a label. From dual TXVs to the integrated refrigerant sensor and a thoughtfully designed drain system, every detail points toward a coil that installs clean, runs efficiently, and holds up over time — in residential attics and commercial mechanical rooms alike.
